Our client based near Wetherby is looking to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor on a full-time, permanent basis. This role involves reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, collaborating closely with the Production team and providing support to all departments and external parties concerning the health, safety, and welfare of employees and associates of the Company.
The successful candidate will ideally hold NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent qualification and have a firm understanding of the application of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to the business, including RIDDOR. You will also undertake Risk Assessments and associated documentations.
- Support all Directors, Managers and Supervisors regarding their Health & Safety responsibilities and those of their teams
- Liaise closely with third party contracted services/consultants and manage any resulting actions
- Manage internal and external checks/inspections; profile resulting actions
- Input, track and oversee all departmental transactions through company PO system
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- To act as a conduit in conveying key EHS information both up and down to those at the front end by attending departmental meetings and being a key contributor to those discussions
- To provide induction training to all individuals new to the Company (including employees, agency, freelancers and contractors) on day one of employment
- Arrange the provision of relevant health and safety training for employees and others who work with the Company as required, including first aid, fire safety, working at height and plant & equipment
Essential experience:
- Previous experience of working in a H&S role in a construction/manufacturing business
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Strong teamwork skills across different departments
- IT literate with a comprehensive understanding of Windows Excel, Outlook & Word
Desirable experience:
- Previous multi-site experience
- Experience of working with ISO18001/14001/9001
Hours of work Monday to Friday 7.30 to 1600, with overtime as required. Salary up to £33,500 per annum.
