Our fantastic client based locally to Wetherby is looking to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor. This is a great opportunity working for an independent, fast paced, growing company.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the Company is legally compliant with all relevant health and safety and environmental legislation. You will work with senior team and managers to implement, monitor and maintain appropriate Health and Safety policies and they will regularly review working practices to ensure that policies are followed and to identify any additional risks.
The perfect candidate will act as the Company’s expert answering all day to day queries on Health and Safety issues and taking the lead on any investigations into breaches or incidents. You will make recommendations to the Leadership Team on any additional practices that should be introduced into the Company to ensure the safety and health of the workforce and the Company’s continued compliance.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations on behalf of the Company
- To implement, monitor and advise on strategic Health & Safety Management systems within the Company
- To develop, co-ordinate, implement and monitor safe working systems and processes
- To promote a positive Health & Safety culture within the Company
- To develop and implement training plans which ensure all employees and Directors receive training necessary to ensure compliance.
- To ensure that data with regards to Health & Safety performance is effectively captured and analysed to enable improvement plans to be developed
- Providing support and guidance to the Company on technical, legal, and other issues as required.
- Highlight areas where poor practice and/or significant risk have occurred and prepare, in conjunction with line managers, remedial plans.
Accident/Incident Investigation / Outcomes
- Investigating incidents and producing detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement
- Ensuring that any incident that falls within the scope of RIDDOR is reported to the HSE
- Ensuring that any incident that is deemed to have posed a significant risk or is reportable under RIDDOR is fully investigated and reported
- Dealing with the HSE, the Environment Agency, insurers, and other bodies in the event of a major incident or as required.
- Manage responses to insurance claims relating incidents.
REQUIRED QUALIFACTIONS/CERTIFICATES AND TRAINING
- Understanding and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in the UK
- Practical understanding of Health and safety in the workplace
- Qualified, or working towards NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
This is a Full-Time role, Monday-Thursday 8.30-5pm & Friday 8.30-4.30pm.
Salary £30,000 - £35,000 Dependant on experience
